Klein's Camp, Northern Serengeti - (Tanzania)

Location:

Some 10,000 hectares of private land is set aside for the exclusive use of the guests at this tiny hutted camp in the north-eastern Serengeti. Hidden amongst the bush-clad Kuka Hills, Klein's Camp lies just south of the Masai-Mara - right in the path of migrating wildebeest and zebra.

Accommodation:

With sweeping views into the Grumeti River Valley, the camp's eight tasteful cottages are built of local rock and thatch, their interior augmented by traditional African design. Klein's Camp comprises a main lodge and ten luxury cottages, set on the edge of the Kuka Hills, commanding sweeping views of the valley below. Round stone walls and polished floors beautifully offset the soft cream and gossamer-fabric interiors. The dcor at Klein's resembles an old Tangyanikan coffee plantation house.

The camp contains just ten intimate, turn-of-the-century style cottages of local rock and thatch. The rich wooden floors and serene, classic interiors are reminiscent of the heydays of rugged safaris. Each spacious cottage has an en suite bathroom. With showerheads the size of a dinner platter, our spacious enclosed showers offer you the sensory equivalent of an indoor cloud-burst.

From each private terrace, a diversity of resident wildlife, including elephant, may be viewed in the valley. Askaris (Masai warrior guards) accompany you to and from your cottage at night.

Facilities:

 The camp has a large, beautifully furnished bar/living area, plunge pool, curio shop and leisure deck. The curio shop stocks locally made Maasai crafts. The shared living spaces - the restaurant and lounge - command spectacular views of the valley and surrounding hills. Klein's is ideal for honeymooners, special occasions and for those wishing to see big game in exclusive surroundings. Savor wholesome Pan-African meals accompanied by flavorsome vegetables and freshly picked herbs from our Shamba, an organic African garden.

Each meal is a culinary celebration. Dinners are served in the main dining area, which is graced by a large open fireplace, or in an enchanting bush clearing.

Excursions into the infinite Serengeti wilderness are led by expert guides and it is on these interpretive excursions that you will experience Africa's most intact and splendid ecosystem. With private land at their disposal, guests can enjoy night drives and off-road exploration in their knowledge that there are no other humans for miles. Elephants are more common here in the woodlands than elsewhere in the Serengeti, and close encounters are frequent.
