Over East Africa Safari" - (14 Days)
Daily
Departures)
|
Day 1:-
On your arrival you are transferred to the Nairobi Serena Hotel.
Overnight on a bed and breakfast basis. |
 |
|
Day 2:-
Early
Breakfast at the Norfolk. After an early breakfast you will be transferred to
Nairobi Wilson Airport for your scheduled service flight to Samburu National
Park.
On arrival at the airstrip in Samburu, you met and transferred to Samburu
Intrepids Club. Lunch at the Club. In actual fact there are three adjoining
reserves - Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba, situated in arid country north of
Mount Kenya, and watered by the Uaso Ngiro River and natural springs.
In the afternoon there will be a
game drive. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Intrepids. |
 |
|
Day
:- 3
Morning and afternoon game
drives. All meals and overnight at Samburu Intrepids Club. The
Reserve is very scenic, with craggy hills and everywhere Doum palms following
the water courses.
Some unusual animal species can be found here; the
reticulated giraffe, Oryx, Lesser Kudu, Grevy's zebra, and the Gerenuk, known as
the "giraffe gazelle".
Most of the game viewing takes place around the
forests along the river, and this is a good place to spot the elusive Leopard.
|
 |
|
Day 4:-
Breakfast
at the club. Morning transfer to the airstrip for the flight to the Masai
Mara. On arrival at the airstrip, met and transferred to Little Governors
Camp. Afternoon game drive. The Masai Mara Reserve is one of Africa's best known
wildlife areas, and is part of the Serengeti ecosystem. A land of undulating
hills and rolling grasslands it supports a large animal population.
Even a casual visitor is treated to the sight of lions in prides
sometimes numbering more than thirty beasts with a handsome black maned male in
dominance; a cheetah at great speed runs down its prey; a Leopard in the lower
branches with its kill.
Another attraction of staying in Little Governor's is
that it is situated away from most other camps and lodges, and game drives tend
to avoid other parts of the reserve which can, at times, be relatively crowded.
Overnight at Little Governors Camp or Il Moran* (* Surcharges may apply).
|
 |
Day 5:-
Morning
and afternoon game drives. In the Mara river there are crocodiles sunning
themselves on the banks , and hippos playing in the water.
Elephant, Cape
buffalo, giraffe, Topi, gazelle are all in abundance, and during the months of
July to September the great migration of wildebeest and zebras spill over from
the Serengeti. The sight of these beasts legging it across the Mara River,
avoiding both the crocodiles in the river, and the predators harassing them from
behind is amazing, and the topic of some of the most spectacular photography
ever seen.
All meals and Overnight at
Little Governors Camp or Il Moran* (* Surcharges may apply). |
 |
|
Day 6:-
Early morning game drive. Depart at
11 AM with a scheduled flight to Nairobi, and connect with the Air
Kenya flight to Arusha. Transfer to Mountain Village and enjoy a late lunch
followed by a walk around Lake Duluti. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Village.
Day 7:-
After breakfast you will continue onwards to
Tarangire National Park. Enjoy lunch at Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Afternoon game
drive, and overnight at Kikoti Tented Camp, and also enjoy a night
game drive. |
 |
|
Day 8:-
Full day game drive in Tarangire.
The park is host to a number of rarely seen species of wildlife including Eland,
Oryx, Kudu and Gerenuk. Another specialty are tree climbing pythons and some
3,500 resident elephants. Tarangire also has the highest number of recorded bird
species for any habitat in the world. The baobab studded landscape also plays
host to a vast variety of resident and migratory bird life.
Looking out over the rolling countryside the lodge is a tranquil
oasis set in over 2,600 sq kms (900 sq miles) of National Park. The Tarangire flows north to
south year-round and sustains an abundance of fauna and flora rarely seen
elsewhere.
Dinner
and overnight at Kikoti Camp or similar.
Day 9:-
After breakfast we travel to Lake
Manyara. Game drive en-route. Enjoy lunch at Kirurumu Tented Lodge. Enjoy an
afternoon hike around the valley rim.. Overnight at Kirurumu Tented Lodge.
|
 |
|
Day 10:-
After breakfast there is a game drive in the park
. There are normally plenty of Hippo around, and you may be lucky enough to see
the elusive tree climbing Lions for which this park is famous. After lunch
continue to the Ngorongoro Conservation area.
"It is impossible to give
a fair description of the size and beauty of the Crater, for there is nothing
with which one can compare it. It is one of the Wonders of the World." This
is how the Crater is described by Bernard Grzimek in his classic "Serengeti
Shall Not Die".
The
area is given over to Wildlife Conservation and comprises 8300 square kilometers
of which the Crater is 260 square kilometers, and consists of grasslands,
swamps, forests, rivers, and even an arid area of shifting dunes. The Crater
supports a year round resident population of varied wildlife , and as the game
is concentrated into a relatively small area you are likely to see Lion,
Elephant, Hyaena, Jackal, Cheetah, the very rare Black Rhino, primates and many
more. The area is also
home to the proud and colorful Masai tribe. Dinner
and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge. |
 |
Day 11:- Breakfast at the lodge.
Morning descent into the Crater with picnic lunches for a full day tour. Dinner
and overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
Day 12:-
Breakfast
at the lodge. Leave after breakfast and drive
via Ol Duvai Gorge to the Serengeti National Park, arriving for lunch and an
afternoon game drive. The Gorge is about 50 kilometers long and in some places
90 metros deep. Commonly heralded as the "Cradle of Mankind" it was
made famous by the discovery in 1959 of the remains of early man. Your stop
includes a visit to the small museum overlooking the Gorge. Lunch at Serengeti Serena Lodge. Afternoon
game drive and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge. |
 |
|
Day 13:-
Morning
and afternoon game drives. The Serengeti
National Park is one of the most popular and spectacular game areas in East
Africa, covering an area of 14,765 square kilometers, teaming with game. A
particular feature of the Serengeti is the annual migration of the wildebeest
and zebra herds. Each year, after the traditional "short" rains in
November the migration starts when the herds amass in their thousands on the
plains below the Ngorongoro highlands.
During February they move north and west
following the rains and the new grasslands, and they start to move into the
Masai Mara in July. In October they move back to
Tanzania. This annual phenomenon involves more than 1.5 million animals,
including the lion and other predators who follow the herds for easy
pickings. The whole process affects the lives of thousands of other species
who rely on the passage of the migration for their survival, even the
insects, not to mention the trees and plants which rely on the droppings for
their fertilization. All meals and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge.
|
 |
|
Day 14:-
Breakfast at the lodge.
Morning transfer to the airstrip for the Regional Air flight to Kilimanjaro.
Clear customs and immigration and connect with the Air Kenya scheduled flight to
Wilson Airport in Nairobi. Transfer to the Hilton Hotel, where a day room is
booked. Evening transfer to Nairobi Airport for your onward departure flight.
